Class size:
Maximum of 12 participants for each course.
For group booking, you can book from a minimum of 4 up to 12 participants.
Who is this course for:
This course is for childminders and those working in schools and nurseries.Nannies may also take this course - but the required course for Nannies is the one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course.
Dates:
2 successive days or
1 day per week for 2 weeks (ie 2 Mondays).
Course Content:
This two-day course covers mild and severe choking, external bleeding, shock, bites, stings, suspected bone, head and spinal injuries, eye, ears and nose injuries, acute medical condition or sudden illness, body temperature extremes, electric shock, burns and scalds, suspected poisoning and anaphylaxis. This course is ideal for people working with children and infants such as childminders and those working in schools and nurseries.
This course is based on UK Resuscitation Guidelines and meets
HSE
and
Ofqual
guidelines. Certificates are valid for 3 years.
Course Content:
Unit 1: Emergency Paediatric First Aid
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are unresponsive
- Be able to provide first aid for an infant and a child who are choking
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is suff from shock
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries>
Unit 2-day2: Managing paediatric illness, injuries and emergencies
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints. - Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected head and spinal injuries - Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with conditions aff the eyes, ears and nose - Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with an acute medical condition or sudden illness - Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who is experiencing extremes of body temperature - Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child who has sustained an electric shock - Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with burns and scalds - Know how to provide first aid to an infant or a child with suspected poisoning - Be able to provide first aid to an infant or a child with anaphylaxis
